The week gone by has been highlighting some serious issues in the country. While at Dadri, there was unrest over beef murder, Punjab was also not settling amidst protests. It definitely hints at increasing negativity in the country. So, while today as we celebrate the victory of the good over the evil, it’s more important that we emerge victorious in the battle of good vs the evil within us as well. So, before moving to change the world, it’s important we change ourselves first by inclining towards the positive thoughts. Lets make it a happy place to live.

Surrounded over by these thoughts, I wrote a few lines on this:

हर साल रावण जलाते हैं हम,
दशहरे का पर्व मनाते हैं हम,
बुराई की हार का प्रतीक है यह,
सच्चाई के रास्ते की जीत है यह।

जब सदियों से हम यह त्यौहार मनाते रहे हैं,
उन पुतलों की आग में अच्छाई दिखाते रहे हैं,
जब बुराई को जलाते हैं हम हर साल,
फिर क्यूँ नहीं मिटता यह बुराई का जाल।

एक सोच सी जगी जो आज दिल में,
क्यों दिखावा ही दिखावा है महफ़िल में,
क्यों एक दूसरे के दुश्मन बनें हैं सब,
इक छोटी सी बात पे भी क़त्ल हो जाते हैं अब।

समय है अब आया बस एक तीर चलाने का,
ज़िन्दगी में अच्छाई की और एक कदम बढ़ाने का,
दुनिया को सुधारने चाहे चले हैं हम,
पर वक़्त है पहले खुद को सुधारने का।

आओ एक बार फिर से दशहरा मना लें,
अपने अंदर जो छिपी है, वो बुराई जला दें,
जो अँधकार की दुनिया का राजा,
आज उस रावण को आग लगा दें,
बैठा है छिपकर जो रावण मन में,
आज उस रावण को आग लगा दें।
