Being a blogger gives me a privileged access to many things, one of which happened pretty recently. I got an invite to be a part of the launch of the new festive campaign of HDFC Bank which was to be launched by none other than MD, HDFC Bank, Sh. Aditya Puri. He is one man who has been an integral part of the growth story of HDFC Bank and is a name widely respected in the banking circles. Inspite of the fact that the interaction would be a digital conversation over the video conferencing, still getting to interact with someone you admire was a chance not to be missed.
And here I was at the launch of the festive campaign of the HDFC Bank, also being the Bank’s largest brand campaign across print, outdoor, digital and radio. The campaign styles the bank in your hands, promoting the digital inclusion the bank really believes in, as it tags the campaign as, ‘Har Zaroorat Poori Ho Chutki Mein, Bank Aapki Mutthi Mein’.
The three-month long campaign delves into HDFC Bank’s products and offerings, from banking service, to loans, investments, one click payments and one click shopping, which are all digitally accessible to customers using mobile phones and the internet in order to save time, paperwork and needless hassles such as visiting bank branches. The theme of the campaign is that digital banking is enabling customer convenience as never before.
HDFC Bank has been leading the banking arena into the digital evolution the industry is currently experiencing, as it ventured recently into a mobile payment solution, PayZapp. It is an app that enables one click for a variety of payment types from mobile phone top-ups to instant money transfers, to bill payments to groceries to movie tickets and even big-ticket purchases such as foreign holidays. Payzapp has therefore revolutionized the way payments and purchases are done on the go today using mobile devices. And yes, not to forget the cashback offers Payzapp has in store all this festive season. Cashbacks on bill payments, movie tickets, hotel bookings, flight bookings, grocery shopping and the list goes on. I just earned Rs. 150 cashback for paying my Airtel Bill. “All our processes have been digitized. This is in keeping with our #GoDigital campaign. Banks that do not use the latest technology to ease the way customers can access its products and services will soon be obsolete,” said Sh. Aditya Puri, managing director, HDFC Bank Limited. And certainly, that’s what was once called , Survival of the Fittest.
I also got an insight into another innovative loan approval process by the Bank, which uses the technology to access the credit history of the customer and claims to approve loans in 10 seconds. From conducting simple banking operations using a mobile phone to 10 second personal loan disbursal offers through Netbanking and wearable banking applications using the Apple iWatch, HDFC Bank has been consistently launching services that use the latest technologies to benefit its customers.
While addressing us, Sh. Parag Rao, Sr. Executive Vice President, HDFC Bank said, “the concept of digital is now embedded into the DNA of HDFC Bank. It started a year ago on the banks of the Varanasi with the launch of our ‘Bank aapki mutthi mein’ initiative, which placed the power of banking in the hands of the customer. This is the largest ever brand campaign undertaken by the bank and emphasises our philosophy of transforming into a digital bank.”
Being a customer of HDFC Bank since last 9 years, I certainly believe the Bank has been a front runner in the digital innovation and evolution with one of the easiest to use mobile banking app, mobile payment app, Payzapp, and mobile shopping app, Smartbuy. Further, as we got to know during the launch event that during the last fiscal, 63% of all transactions at HDFC Bank are conducted through digital channels, I have now decoded what HDFC Bank really stands for. It stands for Highly Digital Fully Cool Bank.
With heavy discounts and cashbacks on offering, it certainly pays to be a HDFC Bank customer. And just when I sign off, I would like to remind you, don’t forget to be a part of Amazon sale tomorrow, which comes with 15% cashback for using HDFC Bank cards.
With such good savings and accessibility, it’s certainly #BankAapkiMutthiMein.
