I woke up today at the news of the wrestler, Sakshi Malik ending the medal jinx haunting the nation and finally opening accounts for India’s medal tally at Rio Olympics 2016. These games have brought more disappointments than positives for India, which had sent its largest contingent ever to Olympics. In the majority of the events Indians participated, players hardly posed any major claim for a podium finish. However, focusing on the positives, I wrote a few lines on India’s show at Olympics:

आज की नारी है सबपे भारी,
साक्षी मलिक ने यह करके दिखाया,
कांस्य पदक को जीतके उसने,
तिरंगा आख़िरकार रियो में फहराया।

दीपा कर्माकर ने भी जिमनास्टिक्स में,
जी जान अपना लगाया था,
वो प्रोडूनोवा उसने जो किया,
वो हर कोई कर ना पाया था।

अब सिंधु से है उम्मीदें हमको,
कुछ कलाकारी वो भी दिखाएगी,
अपने खेल के हुनर की बदौलत वो,
भारत को एक और पदक दिलाएगी।

रियो के इस खेल मेले में,
उम्मीदें अभी कुछ बाकी हैं,
कुछ पदक और जुड़ जाएँ,
आशाएं दिल में कुछ बाकी हैं,
पर इन गिनती के पदकों से खुश न होना,
सारा जहाँ अभी बाकी है,
2020 के टोक्यो ओलिम्पिक तक,
वो आसमान छूना अभी बाकी है।

Let’s all hope for a good Indian show in the remaining part of Rio Olympics 2016.
